What is with this picture?
So, if anyone was wondering what was happening with my picture for the blog, it is the hat. Rage, the offspring, could not contain themselves because of the greatness of said hat. In my very young days of trying to learn how to sew and make things, I created my version of an aviator hat. It was made of scrap fabric that I had lying around, and to this day, I still love that hat, beanie, or whatever you want to call it. It is the perfect hat to use when camping because it is warm, it covers my ears, and it is big enough to layer things under or over it. It is a hat that makes me feel good when I am cold or just feel off.
I had it on for whatever reason and wanted to take a picture with her. She was giving me a hard time, just laughing and swearing it was because the hat was obviously so awesome and there was “absolutely nothing wrong with it, it is a great hat, it is fine!”
It is a memory I cherish, not just for the moment the picture was taken (there is something about hearing your kid's belly laugh no matter their age that melts a parent’s heart) but for the fact that it is something I made way back then and has been with me throughout the years. Through phases of my life where things get lost, trashed, or forgotten, it is still here with me. I remember the times I brought it camping, the lingering scent of fire before throwing it in the wash, hearing Rage’s laugh, and creating something from scraps of fabric that has held up for over ten years.
The energy items hold is why we keep them. They serve as reminders of times we had, feelings we experienced, and pieces of us in the form of hats, pieces of paper, or things. Hopefully, this particular piece stays with me for many more years so I can add to its memory bank.
